Onze diepste angst, is niet dat we onmachtig zouden zijn.
Onze diepste angst is juist onze niet te meten kracht.
Niet de duisternis, maar het licht in ons is wat we het meeste vrezen.
Wij vragen ons af: "Wie ben ik wel om mijzelf briljant, schitterend,
begaafd of geweldig te vinden"
Maar waarom zou je dat niet zijn?
Je bent een kind van God!
Je dient de wereld niet door jezelf klein te houden.
Er wordt geen licht verspreid, als de mensen om je heen,
hun zekerheid ontlenen aan jouw kleinheid.
Wij zijn bestemd om te stralen, zoals kinderen dat doen.
Wij zijn geboren om de glorie Gods die in ons is te openbaren.
Die glorie is niet slechts in enkelen, maar in ieder mens aanwezig.
En als we licht laten schijnen, schept dat voor de ander
de mogelijkheid hetzelfde te doen.
Als we van onze diepste angst bevrijd zijn,
Zal alleen al onze nabijheid anderen bevrijden.
